And the TRIAL ended!

Hello everyone.

Finally, it is week 14. It’s the end of this semester and it means that this will be my last entry (maybe, who knows might use this blog to share my life journey).

As last two weeks, I have been talking about instructional design and courseware. Finally, it is DONE. Yeayyyyyyy. I’m so happy. I’m so grateful that my group members are really a big help in this assignment. Besides submitting the courseware, we also had a quiz. I can say that it was almost the summarize of the lesson throughout this semester.

Therefore, as this will be the last entry, I’m going to share my feelings throughout this semester learning Internet Technologies for Language.

Firstly, I’m so pleased and there are lots of new things that I learnt. I learnt about CALL, Powtoon, Podcast (things I have never tried before), instructional design, and many more. Seriously, it was so fun and the class is so exciting. Well, after so many theory classes, then to have this class, it is such a bless.

Secondly, now I aware that I can use internet and technology more wisely then I did before. I can use it for the purpose of learning the language and at the same time having fun. I guess nothing wrong with it. Learning also have to be in a fun way. Thus, internet and technology can help. I can have both, knowledge and excitement. With these knowledges are really beneficial and it can help me in the future. I know I can do this.

Thirdly, throughout my time writing this blog, I learnt to express my feeling better. Not only that, I’m improving in my writing (I hope so). Among all four skills, I always think that writing is not my forte. It’s because I never know how to express my feeling towards writing. I always find, it’s hard. That is why, I can say that I’m improving. I really try my best and will always do. It’s better late than never and it will always have a room for changes.

Thus, I think that’s all for my last entry. I thanked everyone who supported me throughout these 14 weeks. It was not easy and congratulations to all my friends who managed to finish up the 14 entries. Writing this blog is really an awesome journey for me! Now, the 14 weeks trial is officially ended.

Still in progress ~~~

Hi peeps!

For your information, for this week, my friends and I still working on the courseware.

Well, it is a little bit tough since we have to make sure the lesson is interesting but at the same time the students need to learn it. Of course, it is different from the experience of teaching in the class. In class, it will be face-to-face learning while for this it relies on how good and interesting the lesson is.

Therefore, it quite tough to ensure the coursework really work in a nice way. We’re lucky because every time we encountered some problems, we can quickly refer to our lecturer. She also provided us with so many solutions and giving us ideas on how something should be done, how to make the lessons or the activities exciting.

For us, we just followed the layout that we had planned before. Seriously, it was really a big help to have the layout. It kept us on track, so, we know what should we do next and next. Thus, my advice, anyone who interested to give a try, you should always plan it first and have the layout. Imagine how you want it at first, however, don’t worry as it can be changed later on. That’s how we did it.

Wish us luck!!! Bye!

The BUILDER is SMART

It’s week 12!!!!!! So, the last coursework is coming. Hehehehe. I need to do the courseware.

Do you know what courseware is? According to Meriam-Webster dictionary, courseware is educational software. Therefore, my friends and I need to create a lesson by using this software called SMART BUILDER.

So, let’s see how smart the builder is. Hahahaha. As you remembered, I used to learn Internet Technology back then. (read: 6 years ago). So, a little bit, I repeat, I’m a little bit nervous. Hahahaha. It is because I know it is not easy. The coding and many more. However, this software is simpler than I did before.

Well, it is not that really simple, but at least this software provides templates for us. It helps. Trust me. However, this software only last for 30 days trial. Hahahaha. That is the reason, why this is our last coursework. Anyone can download it. well, it is still good to have these 30 days trial, I think if you are a fast learner, you will be able to create one or two lesson. Hahahah. As long as you know how to create a layout or plan for your lesson. A STRATEGY is important.

That’s why, Madam Azida, asked us to start with a layout first. We need to know, what we are going to teach and how we want it to be done. We need to PREPARE first. We cannot start without knowing anything.

Then, madam Azida also taught us on how to use it. Seriously, it was so awesome! You can create shape, have different background, and it has some actions too. It just like a powerpoint but in interactive version. If you want to know more, just download it. Give it a try.

For me, at first it might get a little bit confusing, because it was a new thing and new experience for me. And as usual, it takes time to get used with it. However, after give some try, well it is not that hard. That is why they said, ‘practice makes perfect.’

So, everyone, please wish my teams will be able to finish up this coursework and able to make it interesting.

Till we meet again!

The model named: ARCS

Remember, when I said I will share with all of you regarding my presentation? So, today, I’m going to share with all of regarding the ARCS model.

Unlike ADDIE which more focusing on how to develop the learning tools, ARCS is more focussing on the motivation of the learning environment. Oopss, sorry. I should explain what ARCS stand first. Hahahaha. It’s okay. Here, I provide the poster I made by using the Canva.

Thus, I hope by looking at the poster, you can understand it as I tried to make as simple as I can, but understandable. Well, if you want to know more, you can click to the link below.
So, from this model, I learnt that, in anything we did, we always need a motivation to keep us doing it. In order to ensure the learning is interesting and the students are engaging with the learning. It is because at the end, all we need is the students are able to achieve the objectives and learn something.

That’s why I think, by referring to this model while doing the learning courseware or anything, it will give a big help to ensure the objectives can be achieved. Well if you to know the others model, here I listed it for you. You can google it to get more information regarding the model.

1. Assess model
2. Dick & Carey model
3. Guaranteed model
4. Rapid prototyping
5. GAGNE 9 event

I think this all for these entry. See you next time!

Instructional Design

Hi, everyone!

How are you? For the past 4 weeks I wrote about POWTOON but in this entry I will write about Instructional Design.

What is Instructional Design?
  • Creating instructional experiences which make the acquisition of knowledge & skill more efficient & appealing.
  • It mixes Behaviourist & Constructivist learning tools.

Instructional Design in CALL

Did you still remember my entry regarding CALL? I hope you do. Thus, instructional design involves creating computer courseware for learning. It acts as a SUPPLEMENT or SUPPORT to lesson but not a COMPLETE replacement.

However, there are lots of step that should be considered before we make any courseware. We should analysis the importance first. Not only that, we should know and be aware of the learners need. We should do the need analysis before design the courseware for the students or even for the teachers.

For your information, there are lots of model that will assist in making the courseware. In my last class, our lecturer explained about ADDIE model.

Basically, from my own understanding, instructional design is creating a tool to help the students to understand the lesson better in attracting way. It shows that in this modern era, lesson is not only whiteboard and chalk and technology can help to improve the lesson.
So, for the next class, we need to present another model. Wish us luck! I will put the notes regarding the others models in next week entry.

| Review | Explainer Video |

Hey there!

In this entry, I’m going to review (not so review) my own explainer video and what I think about others’ explainer video. (I'm not trying to judge others)

Firstly, let’s talk about my group’s explainer video. Well, personally I’m proud of myself. Hehehehe. This is because the process is not easy and I had to challenge myself to be creative. Thus, when I watched the video, I’m so proud as I’m able to finish it up. The only thing I wanted to change if I’m able to do so is change the background colour at the last part of the video. Hahahaha. I didn’t why I didn’t change it while doing it before. Maybe I just want to finish it up quickly till I didn’t mention or suggest to my group mates to change the white background to any colourful background. But still, I’m so happy to watch it and I can say that audiences can get the message that we are trying to convey.

Next, what I think about others’ explainer video. Fantastic! Awesome! Great! I think all of us did well. I can say that they are so creative to deliver the message. Audiences are not only getting the message but feel enjoy too. Their videos are fun and good to be watched. Seriously, our videos are suitable for any ages.

Thus, the explainer video is one of the examples on how to use technology to deliver a message. Besides giving a pamphlet, brochures, or many more, we can use an interactive way such as making a video to convey the message. It will look more interesting than a traditional way. That is how we use technology.

p/s: I’m glad that our lecturer gave us compliment. It felt like everything that we did was worth it and we should believe in our creativity more. Don’t forget to click the link below to watch our explainer video.

XOXO!

Explainer Video

How are you? I hope everything is alright. For today entry, I wanted to share to all of you, my experience making an explainer video by using a powtoon. It is one of the assessments for this subject and it is a group project. Three members per group. Here are my members’ blog.

All of us decided to do an explainer video entitled ‘Don’t Text and Drive’. It was fun, excited but exhausted experienced for me. Hahahaha. It was fun because the animation is so cute. It is exhausted because my friends and I need to figure out on how to deliver the message so that audiences will be able to understand it.

It was a tough experience since I am not a creative person. Therefore, to ensure the message be delivered well and interesting at the same time, was very tough for me. Even though the video should be around 2 – 3 minutes, but still it was hard.

Thus, CREATIVITY is a NEED. However, I do believe that everyone has their own creativity. Everyone has their own way in delivering messages. As this is a group project, so, by having 3 ideas from 3 different people are really helping. That is the importance of having a good communication and team works.

As usual, the first step was making a script. We had to ensure the script prepared was good enough to persuade people to follow it and take an action.  After we had done with our script, we showed it to our lecturer before we proceed to record the voice and create the video.

After all, it was great to learn a new thing. I never persuade people through video. Thus, I gained and encountered lot of new experiences as making the explainer video. I think now I know why some people they love to make a video to deliver their messages. It is because video will always get the attention from the kids and even adults as it is interesting to be watched. Even they will also learn language while watching and listening to the video. Therefore, an appropriate language must be used as the audiences are in the large scale.

Next week, I will upload my team’s explainer video in this blog. Stay tuned!
